The noted explorer, archaeologist, anthropologist, paleontologist, and part-time taxidermist from the University of Chicago, Professor Duffer A. Hacker, led two expeditions to the Fogclift Islands off the coast of South America in the 1920’s. He searched for ancient gold and diamonds hidden in mines. It was rumored that mines were hidden on the Islands. The area was supposed to have been abandoned in ancient times, hence Professor Hacker’s was surprised by the discovery of an old mining train built by the Germans during the First World War. Take the mining car* to the top of the mountain and follow Professor Hacker as you putt your way through a fun and exciting expedition to find gold and diamonds.

Go to 6th ave South in NMB to find Professor Hacker’s Golf. You can ride the train for the lost gold mines or find out about how, during a recreational flight with a friend in 1930, he and a friend found themselves caught in a storm that blew them miles off course. The voyagers finally crash-landed in a canyon. Soon, Professor discovered creatures thought to be extinct….DINOSAURS! Professor Hacker immediately discovered the coordinates of his location and sent for his ship, the R.S. Jurassic Explorer. The professor decided to explore the area while waiting for his ship. He came back to the area where the ship was supposed to be and he discovered that the ship had been beached on some rocks. Follow Professor Hacker! Putt your way through the jungle and around waterfalls while you explore a land thought to be lost.

Mayday Golf, a Myrtle Beach mini golf course, was built in 1997 by Roberts Enterprises Family Partnership of South Carolina. Mr. Roberts, is a licensed pilot and enjoys building airplanes, hence he designed the course around the Big Yellow Airplane which set the theme for the entire 36-hole facility. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, along with their daughters’ families (the Parrishes and the Leonards) own and operate the course along with a fantastic crew of locals who make up the Mayday Family. As a result, the courses are clean and inviting to both locals and visitors from around the world.

Locals call it “Duffys”. A lot of people can’t figure out why Duffy Street Seafood is on Main Street. Well, the original one is in Cherry Grove on Duffy Street, and it’s a great place to eat, but the Main street location is walking distance from our properties so you ought to try it out.

Fantastic Fish Tacos and all sorts of oysters, crab legs, shrimp and low country favorites.

Sam’s place used to be “Harry’s” and has been a NMB favorite for decades! Great breakfast and lunch featuring Greek Omlettes, Greek Salads, Awesome Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon, Sammiches and all of it made fresh Daily.

Tradition

Sam has been cooking breakfast for locals and visitors for a long, long time! Chances are, your parent’s ate here when they came for beach week. It’s not a fancy joint. Good Food and Good People in a basic place. You might have to wait a minute during peak breakfast time, but it’s worth it.

Ask the locals – we’ve tried ’em all and love Georgio’s!  Greek Pete is the latest generation to run this family business. His roots are here in NMB and he is part of our community.  Make sure you visit this local joint – you can eat chain pizza back at home.  When you are old and gray you will tell your grandkids about the fantastic time you had at beach week and they will say,”Georgio’s is still there!  I can’t believe you ate there, Grampa! Great Pizza!”  And then you can all come to the beach together and eat this wonderful Pizza.
